It is illegal to possess 50 grams or less of marijuana under N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(a)(4). A violation of this law is a disorderly persons offense that falls under the jurisdiction of the Lawrence Township Municipal Court. The penalties at the time of sentencing include a fine of up to $1,000 and a county jail term of up to 6 months.
